smoothing the edges
So after a 12-hour period of panic about the well and plumbing, there's now TONS of chlorine in the water and we are diligently running it off... after 5 hours yesterday it was still very high. I can't complain because at least it's clean and thoroughly disinfected! I even used the chlorinated water to scrub the kitchen sink yesterday and feel better about that. Durham County will come one last time to check the water from the inside faucets after the chlorine has run off.
Meanwhile lots of trim work and painting is being finished in the back bedrooms, and round 3 (final round) of drywall smoothing is happening in the remodeled sections of the house. The white fireplace and carpet in the bedrooms looks amazing. Agreeable Gray gorgeousness. We even have a handleset with a lock on the front door. We've asked our GC to ensure all demo is completed and cleaned up before we move in to minimize any dust and potential asbestos exposure on the master side.
Our new matte black dishwasher should be delivered today (installation TBD?) and a new range is on order to replace the funky old one. The GC will cut the countertops to ensure it fits since absolutely nothing is standard in this house. Kevin also opted to order a full-size bed and frame from Costco for the future guest bedroom and our temporary landing spot while the master is completed.
Because it's such a mess, it's still hard to envision living in this house, but we really have come so far and I want to celebrate that! This little remnant of yellow paint in the coat closet (former hall bath) is a nice reminder of our progress.
